Cyber Bullying of Teachers - Old News? Or it Should Be!

I was interested to see a number of news reports today about the issue around “cyber bullying” and the posting of video clips by pupils onto sites like YouTube.

This problem comes as no surprise to me and in fact I raised this as an issue at a public meeting several years ago. In fact it was back in the winter of 2004, when I gave a talk entitled: Never Mind Big Brother, Watch Out for Little Brother

In some ways the only surprise is that it has taken so long to really hit the headlines. On the night one audience question came from a couple of female teachers and one of the things I said to them was there would come a time, unless we implemented changes, when they would never feel safe going into work in a short dress or revealing neckline again. That the technology at the time wasn't quite that good enough to cause them real problems but precedents in behaviour had been set and that anyway the technology would advance to a point where pupils really could become a nuisance.
